Work in Progress: A large conglomerate organI've been experimenting with creating Mixture stops from multiple sample ranks. In order to learn and test what others have recommended, I put together a nice large organ from free sample sets. I've been asked to share it and the CODM xml, so here they are, further down this page... For now, here is a little improvisation of the English Cathedral Organ with Trumpet OrganAndTrumpetImprov.mp3 For the specification / stop list of the organ, download the PDF FreeCathedralHW3.pdf As already mentioned, this is a work in progress, so expression of the Solo stops, tremulants, and some couplers have not yet been added. I have used ranks from the St Anne's, St Augustine's, St Stephen's, and the Prudhoe Methodist churches. The CODM file can be downloaded here: FreeEnglishCathedral.CustomOrgan.rar I've extended the ranks of the St Augustine's and St Stephen's pedal ranks to 32 notes, and the St Stephen's manual ranks to 61 notes. The best way to play this sample set is to load it as a 16-bit MONO sample set (as some ranks are re-used through out the specification, I have made them sound different from each other by using the CODM setting for panning of Mono ranks). The St Anne's organ samples are also just Mono samples, so I have kept the rest of the organ based on that standard. The samples are not wet enough for a Cathedral sound, so I also use a large reverb on it while playing. I suggest that you do the same (I use a VST convolution reverb). The organ is only very roughly voiced as I have just finished adding all the ranks. Hopefully in the months to come this will get some attention - but if you want to go ahead and use the CODM and change the amplitude settings please feel free to send me your adjustments and I'll add them. This sample set will load and play in the Free version of Hauptwerk 3, but you will need to select the lowest memory requirements (i.e. 16-bit Mono, single releases, first loop, etc). Your polyphony will also be restricted in the Free version, but you will certainly get a good experimental feel of an organ this size :-) I have the Basic version of Hauptwerk and have been able to get a wonderful Tutti feel out of it! You will need to have these organs already installed
The Free Cathedral HW3 organ installation file can be download here: FreeCathedral.CompPkg.Hauptwerk.rar (about 0.5 Meg) The graphics are self made, so if anyone wants to use them for their own project, go ahead and enjoy them.
